Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.

The Importance of Robert Nisbet’s “Quest for Community”

Sociologist and scholar Robert Nisbet’s “Quest for Community” is a classic work examining man’s inherent desire for community and the indispensable role true community plays in preserving man’s liberty against the State's intrusion. His book was admired in the 1960’s on both the Left and Right, but in today’s political parlance, Nisbet might be called a “conservative communitarian.” These articles summarize the themes of this important book, and we encourage you to read it.
